Blue World
By Jackson Park
It was once said that the world was blue without her.
But what blue!Surely not the blue of the roaring sky,nor the blue of mother sea stretching toward eternity, but a blue bruised, blistered, blotcheda thousand shades of sorrow gathered in amalgam.
I have seen it deepen, watched its colors crowd and collapse, darker, carrying something of her absence.
But, behold!how near this blue has come to black, how the last grain of light trembles at the edge.
Yet we had made a promiseyou and Ithat however dark the canvas was,we would never use pure black.
